Anybody have a good place to get the shop manual for the Protege5? Preferably someplace other than the stealership. If you have one, how much did it end up costing you?

Already checked with Helms, they don't do Mazda.

Wow, Thanks for nothing.

I like having a bound copy that I can keep in the garage with the rest of 'em. Not to mention it probably ends up costing less than printing the whole bloody thing out.

Please don't take the sarcasim personally, just here to have some fun. I too prefer to have an actual bound copy of the manual, BUT think about what happens to it in your garage while you are working. That nice $$$$ factory service manual with greasy fingerprints all over it. I had one for my classic SE-R. Paid $80+ dollars for it on Ebay and it ended up full of fingerprints, and got water damage floating around in the trunk of the car.
Try this, bookmark the link and when you need to work on whatever, print the pages as needed and keep 'em in a folder. Before you know it you'll have your manual. And that's a Mazda FSM, not some Chiltons or Haynes knock-off. (alright)

A bunch of loose paper in a folder? No offense, but I'll pass on that. Too disorganized, easy to lose the one page you need. No index, etc.

I'm not worried about it getting too messed up, I keep my garage immaculate. I don't mind getting some greasy fingerprints on it, not a big deal.

What I do mind is getting into a job and realizing that I forgot to print a section I needed and having to go in the house, wash up, go to my home office, track down the relevant info, print it out, and get back to work. When I'm working on my cars, I just want to get the job done with a minimum amount of fuss. I just find electronic documentation to be a hassle, and want to find a real bound copy (of the Mazda manual, not a Chiltons or some other BS) to keep in the shop.

To each his own, I guess.

For those that care to know, the dealership charges 70 for the manual, and it takes about 2 weeks to get in.

i paid nothing to have it printed and bound in a 3-hole binder.
most printing places would charge like $30 to have it done.... or if you're cool, they'll do it for free cuz it's nothing - and you gotta play the system like i play yo momma.

yeah, do this, but just do it yourself. a 3 hole punch and binder can't cost more than $5. It would take maybe an hour to do (as most 3 hole punches won't do all that many pages @ a time), but I know I don't get paid $70/hour so...

Oh, that is where the parts, wiring, and service manuals are located. Not sure if that is what you got. As far as a hard copy, go to the library and print it out there for free.
