DGM Carbon Fiber Front-End

Has anyone ever seen this up close? I'm doing some research on how I would adapt this to my car. As most of you know, my car was vandlized recently, and I have been considering this as an option. If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, here's some help below. CLICK IT FOR THE VISUAL!:

I know that I would need some type of hinge system so it will fold forward like the viper front-end does. Also various holes will have to be cut out for the grille, the headlamps. The Fogs are attached to the stock bumper, so that will be another challange. The biggest challange will be security. I don't want some asshole to have easy access to my engine bay!!! Multiple locking hood-pins will be in order. Give your pros and cons...I'm listening!

Theres no headlights on that car.. You might want to contact DGM and see if they can cut out the headlight areas, and if it is "reliable" enough for daily use. They might be able to help you with a hinge and licking system too.

I shouldn't be so obsessed, but I'm drooling over the idea of the weight savings alone.

As far as securing it, right under the cowl, rig up something so you can put a pin in horizontally on either side, then two latches, like the kind toolkits have, one off to either side underneath. If you hinge it at the front lip, you can lift it foreward on the hinges after removing the two clasps and the two pins, then support the front end by wire cables with loops connecting to two threaded in barbs on the hood, and two threaded in hoops in the frame. Problem solved. =)

the girls get in the way, but here's it installed...

does that help any?

dude that would be so ridiculously nuts......you hsould DEF do it..

make a whole where the head lights go, mount the headlights in the hood, so they flip iwth it.. extend the wires and there ya go, street legal with headlights in it..

id put a freakin linear actuator on that front end so you could flip a switch and it would just fold out...pimp..lol sorry

Damn, Aimee did say it was designed for the flare kit... :( Maybe they have one that is NOT designed for the flare kit?

if you gonna go that far, hell, put 4 acuators and lift the entire thing Up, that way you can get to the fmic if you have one, plus that would look sweeter in my opinion

I wish they had some underneath pictures...

I wonder if they have a version with the Evo hood vent, and no flares? If not, then need to make one!!!

Yes, a little. Thanks. I just need some closeup photos of underneath, and also the foglight area.

that would be quite a big weight savings. But like someone said.. That seems like it would flop around.. Plus if anything ever does happen to that thing (rock cracks the front end, hit a curb wrong, someone backs into you) that is gonna be one hella expensive fix!

But that aside, that would be badass!

Well if you have the time and money to do it I say why not, between the weight savings and the sheer hotness of having a full CF front end it would be really nice.

I say decide between cutting the entire headlight areas out and just cutting holes for the light to shine through almost projector style(hell maybe this calls for an HID upgrade too), once you decide that your set there, you dont NEED to have the headlight flip with the hood, it can be mounted like it usually is and the clip would close on/around them...
the grill is your choice as to wether to leave it solid or cut it out, maybe graft an Ae grill to it? naw

anyway it looks good, shouldnt be too hard to mount some sort of hinge to the bottom to make it open like DG's, 2-4 hood pins along the back or maybe find another fastener to use...will look sexay, especially painted right.

I agree, the girls do get in the way. Maybe you can ask for the hood without the girls?
