Thanks for the quick reply, The Camera that I bought is the Sony CCD HD it indicates that it runs on 12V dc. I'm thinking that the reverse lights are 12v so its why I connected to it. I did not test the backup lights to see if its 12v. but your explanation on how the system starts makes a lot...
