That's probably why the Mazda5 is still around in the US. 15K-20K sales per year is OK/decent for Mazda, esp. considering they put absolutely no money in marketing it. If the Mazda5 was in the lineup of a larger car company, it probably would have been yanked from the US market already.

I love my Mazda5 but I have to totally agree.

Despite what most Mazda5 owners think of the Rondo, I think that it's demise in the US market isn't good news for Mazda in the long run. Yes, it gets rid of what most people though was a competitor but it the end, if other vehicles of this type don't come to market soon, there will be even less...

Now I certainly agree that the car does sell itself but we must remember that it has only sold a little over 10,000 cars so far this year. Decent but not "amazing" in my book. I think most of us love our mazda 5's but we have to understand that realistically right now it's really a niche...

Sorry, a little confused by those statements... The Mazda5 isn't a minivan and should be compared to minivans... but a fairer comparison is to compare it to Mazda's own minivan (the MPV) ??

Of course this is just my opinion but I'm convinced that at least in N.A. the Mazda 5 just simply fills a spot in their lineup. When they discontinued the MPV in N.A. they needed a vehicle that could fulfil that role. They simply brought over the Premacy from Europe/Asia to fill that gap...

I see your point but realistically HOW many "practical" cars do people dream about driving when they grow up. Most of our dream cars, we NEVER buy simply because they just aren't practical. I don't see anyone dreaming about growing up to drive a Prius... or a Honda Accord, or Ford Focus. None...
