strut mount replacement - alignment off?

Hi, I just installed new struts all around last month on my P5. I don't think there is enough droop to free up the spring. You'll probably have to compress the spring, either in place or after removing the strut from the car. Unbolting the two bottom bolts is not that much extra work, and I...

    Auto X rims and tires???

Welcome to the addiction! :) The tips by khaosman (as well as the threads he quoted) are very good. Definetely figure out which class you would like to enter, and let that guide you w.r.t. mods, tires, etc. Just in case you want to avoid the cost of new rims, here is another idea: consider...

    Rotor Replacement

I stand corrected: you may have to pound the crap out of the rotors with a heavy metal sledge. LOL I guess we also have it easy here in the Northwest... Cheers, q

    Rotor Replacement

Yea, removing the rear rotors is done the same way - soft hits with a rubber mallet should do it. The e-brake related things are the e-brake cable clip (step 3), and the piston retraction hex nut in the rear of the calipers (steps 6 and 7). Most everything else is the same b/w front and rear...

Tires: Go with 195/50/16 or 205/50/16

I agree. That strange feeling was probably due to the different gearing and the quieter ride. Placebal self-delusion can be amusing at times, though... :-) cheers, q

Tires: Go with 195/50/16 or 205/50/16

So, I ended up buying the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S tires, sized 205/50R16 I've had them for 24 hours now, and so far so good. First impressions: These are very nice tires. They do ride much more smoothly and a bit quieter than the old Falken Azenis RT615s I had previously. Bumps and potholes...

Antifreeze smell no leaks to find.

Ditto - I had the same issue a few years back in my old '92 Chevy Cavalier. I had the heater core replaced by the dealer, and that took care of the smell (and a few hundred dollars, too.) Good luck. q

    Cold Air Intakes

You know, I noticed that also. I still can't figure out how the fresh air "scoop" gets any air to begin with. It's as if the engineers went to great lengths to ensure no air gets into the motor. There are also a few weird "resonator" boxes in various parts of the intake. I'd be very curious...

Tires: Go with 195/50/16 or 205/50/16

Thanks for the note. You've sold me on the 205/50 size. I'll be ordering them Neros sometime tonight. Cheers, enrique

Tires: Go with 195/50/16 or 205/50/16

Greetings to all! I've been lurking around this forum for a few years now, but have not posted much. Thanks to all for your comments. Reading this thread (and various others related to tire sizes and the such), I am realizing I must be the only person (moron, idiot, pick your adjetive) to...
