if it's the same diameter as the 2.0 and if the maf sensor fits on then you're fine. you could use an aluminum tube as a matter of fact if you got the right holes in it.

ebay is actually great for old mazda stereos for pretty cheap. you just buy the whole unit and use the parts that you need. i don't know how much of a do-it-yourselfer you are but if you are... you can cast a mold out of plaster and make (or carve) a mold of one of the other identical buttons...

the sole purpose of the baffle is to quiet engine noise, but its removal will VERY slightly affect gas mileage and to an even lesser extent horsepower. your engine will be fine without it. it's even safer than descreening your MAF sensor.
