P0455, changed gas cap but still get code

I can clear the PCM, which clears the code & all onboard tests. (I have the autoenginuity OBDII package). That's no problem. Problem I'm having is getting the PCM to actually *run*the EVAP test. I can't even tell if any work I did made it happy or not for several days. I did get a service...

P0455, changed gas cap but still get code

Doh!!! Sorry. Darn thing is making me crazy. 1999 Protege LX 1.6L. Sine then I've also replaced the purge solenoid, used a hand vacuum pump to verify the line from intake manifold, vacuum chamber, and charcoal filter have zero leaks. So front to back is A-OK.

P0455, changed gas cap but still get code

Trying to trigger EVAP check. Drive cycle conditions that trigger a PCM EVAP Test?

Hi all, My fiance has a 99 Protege 1.6L that's been throwing P0455 (EVAP Leak). I checked and cleared all the hoses to the charcoal canister, etc & put on an OEM gas cap. So far results are inconclusive as it's still thrown the code a few times, and NYS emissions inspection is coming up soon...

Block/head gasket, and timight chain/non-interfrence engine?

    > Why you would wait so long as to break a belt, I don't know...as they're supposed to be changed every 60,000 miles / 96,000km (California law notwithstanding). It's Mr. Murphy (as in "Murphy's Law") & the little unexpected surprises between 60k changes that concern me, which is what prompts...

Block/head gasket, and timight chain/non-interfrence engine?

I am looking for some semi-technical info about a 1999 Mazda Protege LX. 1) Is the engine block aluminum or steel/cast iron/etc? 2) Is there a recommended mileage at which to replace the engine head gasket? 3) I've heard the engine is a non-interference design, meaning the pistons are...
