Do I REALLY need a new HU?

Thanks for the tips; I'll stick with the stock HU. My Amp is an Alpine MRP-F450: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-eDPBqwXJJqG/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=Alpine+MRP%2DF450&i=500MRPF450; it has speaker- and preamp-level inputs so it looks like I can skip the LOC. Anyone know of a good installer in...

Do I REALLY need a new HU?

Hi all, I recently upgraded my speakers (Infinity Kappas), and bought a 4 channel Alpine amp. Went to an installation shop, and the guy tried to convince me to install a new HU as the stock unit will sound like crap with this setup. Does he have a point or is he just blowing smoke up my a**...

    InstallCard...anyone tried it?

So back to the original topic...(InstallCard): I called a couple shops and the breakdown is pretty much the same... - roughly 2 hours to install the amp - $70/hour labor - I supply everything (including amp kit) So I'm looking at roughly $140 for the install...seems steep to me. Anyone else...

    InstallCard...anyone tried it?

OK thanks for the tips. I'll skip the card and work directly with a reputable shop.

    InstallCard...anyone tried it?

I need to contact local install shops before I make a decision, but to answer your question, it's not a rip if the price is competitive. You also get the peace of mind that the work will be done at a pre-determined price (none of that "Sure we can do that, but you won't find out how much it...

    Considering a like-new 3 i

Thanks all for the comments. Main reason why I'm looking used is I try to avoid at all costs buying new because of depreciation, taxes, etc. Also don't need to finance, so that's out. I agree that the price has to come down if a deal is going to happen. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Car isn't sold yet. Planning on seeing it next week. Just curious about the asking price based on the package. Thanks

Hi all, I've been looking for a slightly used Mazda3 for a while, and one finally came on the market. He's asking $14.5K for a 3i manual with power and A/C package. It has under 5K miles on it. Pics: http://photos.yahoo.com/dckooky. Thoughts appreciated!!
