hesitating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bad..... got some ideas of what it is???

Correct DiS ! I couldn't think of the name. Also, a bad coil will DEFINITELY throw a CEL code. I had a CEL in my daughter's 02 LX, and if I recall correctly, it threw a PO300 code (I think ... not positive on the exact number) which was 'multiple random misfire' .... I researched it...

Those electrodes generally don't just break off. Have you checked to see if your car is one subject to those screws coming loose and falling into the engine. I forget the name of them ... REV

Get the codes read at your local auto zone or big box parts retailer. I'd guess coil packs .... but that should make the car throw a check engine code. REV

    Alignment technical question

Thanks MM, that's what I thought too ... I didn't see how I changed anything that would affect alignment, but my mechanic mentioning that make me think twice. I guess some cars adjust alignment at the bottom of the strut with eccentrics on those strut mounting bolts, but my Protege doesn't have...

    Alignment technical question

No, just disconnected the knuckle from the bottom of the strut by removing the two big nuts and bolts on the bottom of the strut itself. The strut itself stayed completely intact. REV

    Alignment technical question

Hi All, I recently replaced the driver's side half shaft on my daughter's 2002 Protege LX. I had the ENTIRE knuckle and hub off the car. I seperated the tie rod end, ball joint, and disconnected the knuckle from the strut. I'm thinking that it doesn't need to be realigned, as the adjustment...

    Drivetrain diagnosis help please !!

Update !! Well, I tore it apart, removed the spindle nut, caliper assembly, seperated the tie rod ends, seperated the lower ball joint, and pried the half shaft out of the transmission. Supposedly the half shaft's spindle should 'tap right out' of the steering knuckle and hub. Yeah ... right. I...

How do you seperate the driveshaft spindle from the hub ??

HI All ! I'm in the process of replacing the driver's side half shaft on my daughter's 2002 Protege LX. I've removed the spindle nut, brake caliper assembly, and seperated the tie rod end and the lower ball joint. I've heard that the driveshaft should be able to be 'tapped free' of the hub by...

    Drivetrain diagnosis help please !!

I'm thinking wheel bearing too. I removed the driver side front wheel, and removed the caliper and the brakes are fine ... about 50% left. It's getting dark now, so tommorrow I'll remove the passenger wheel, check the brakes there too. There is ZERO wheel play on the driver side when jacked...

    Drivetrain diagnosis help please !!

Hi All ! My daughter's 2002 Protege LX just developed a noise in the drivetrain (I think). Here's the symptoms. When the car is coasting with no throttle input, the car has developed a pulsating light grinding sound that seems to be coming from the driver side front (the slower the speed, the...
