i don't have the oem sub but according to my research, look in the panel under the seatbelt for the passenger behind the driver. The wire harness for the sub is supposed to plug there at one end and the sub at the other end

heres an update: put back the intake mani with new screws from recall gasket kit. One butterfly valve missing (cyl #4). Used a magnetic pickup tool to check in each cylinder and found 2 pieces. Put everything back in it's place and started the engine. However, coins in the dryer sound is gone...

that's what I thought but found a screw and only a half of a buttefly valve in the lower half... just a thought: would it be ok to drive the P5 with no VICS?

any advice to remove the screw? they seem awfully soft and tight never mind, a pair of plyers worked fine.

do you mean the cylinder head? is it possible for me to take out? or should i let a real mechanic do it? by the way, thanks for all your help so far :)

i just checked the bottom half. didn't completely remove it because of the egr pipe but simply shook it and it seems like nothing is in there...

at last, i was able to remove the top halve only (cool). the egr pipe was limiting the movement of the bottom half on the drivers side. but that doesn't end there. i took a look at the famous VICS and then WTF!!! the valve for cyl #4 is completely missing! not only those 2 screws but the round...

and also, what's special about the egr pipe? i don't get that (uhm)

Well, i took my sweet time, labeling things, to be sure that i can reinstall everything the right way.

@ fishdonotbounce: 20 mins to remove it! are you serious? I've spent 4-5 hours so far! even the mazda dealer asked for a minimum of 2.5 hours! didn't mention it but I did that too. I guess I'll do it the long way: remove the throttle body, egr valve and take the whole thing... so i'm gonna...
