One of the disappointing things is it seems Mazda has opted for more hard plastics on the door panels instead of soft touch materials.

I love my CX-5, and I'd hate to have to switch to something else.

I don't want to berate them, but this new design is hostile.

TBH I'm going to be cautiously optimistic that Mazda walks back some of this by 2029 model year.

It's actually mandated in the EU for sure. Perhaps coming in the US, but AFAIK right now you can disable this 'driving monitoring' bulls*** in Mazda vehicles.

I think the single most insidious addition are those 2 infrared eye tracking sensors that can't be disabled. Also disabling them MAY be used against you on car insurance rates.

Like removing the logo on the back, the widened wheel arches, the near removal of all buttons in the front....

Fortunately I'm extending my warranty till 2029, so I won't be in the market until then. Meanwhile I'll continue to enjoy my classic 2019 for at least 4 more years.
