Upon furthur research, it appears Mazda came out with a Service Bulletin on exactly this problem they refer to it as "Clutch Judder" which applies to 2003 - 2005 Mazda6 vehicles with manual transmissions. (Bulletin no. 05-003/05 last issued 05/14/05)

Thanks for the information the instructions were VERY helpful. I might still have the dealership install it since I am all thumbs and I have not got a nice warm garage to work in. It looks like someone with any mechanical ability should be able to knock it out in a couple of hours tops...
