sorry for such a late reply but it was the tensioner. The bearing was not seated properly in the tensioner causing the belt to slip off. I just replaced the tensioner. everything is perfect. thanks guys.
even thought the tensioner is supposed to be tight it will still not stay in place with all that tension on the belt. I hope i dont have a faulty tensioner. the thing is brand new.
alright so I changed the timing belt and the tensioner kit. Everything is perfect except for the fact that when i go to turn the motor a full 720 degrees the belt starts to slide off. I already retightened the tensioner and the same thing happens. i am stumped with this.

hey guys. thanks for all the help. I fixed the problem. it was a major vac leak from the IM. got it fixed and the car runs fine. there is another problem though that i am going to post right after this.

i'll double check the manifold in the morning, but what do you mean the intercooler pipes? If you mean check the couplers and pipes for looseness then i have done that but i'll chack again tomorrow.

Ok well I have been working on the motor for the past month and just got it back in the engine bay last week. I have put everything back on the motor and went to start it and it just died. The motor starts and 1 sec later shuts down.

the motor is back in the car and the car is ready for paint. at the moment i am currently working on all the electronics. the car still has a long ways to go but moving smoothly...
