Make that removed the vta from the intake camshaft...

I have removed the valve timing actuator from the intake manifold. How do I get it in the proper place. I can time the camshaft with the exhaust cam but the actuator has 2 positions. Do you tighten it in the clockwise positon or counter clockwise.
