Uneven tire wear with non-stock size?

Hey now Something rather disturbing I noticed when rotating my tires. The inside edge of the fronts (both left and right) was worn down to the cords, and had much more wear than the rest of the tire. Admittedly, I did not rotate them when I should have, and let them get down to basically almost...

    Finally got a bike rack

I'm using a Bauer revolution - it's pretty old, but works well for carrying a single bike. Wouldn't recommend it for more than one though, it's difficult securing two bikes properly and they will get scratched from being so close to each other.

    MazdaSpeed3 Towing Hitch

Thanks to the OP, I recently installed a Curt hitch on my MS3 to carry my bike rack. A little bit of modding was needed, as my rack needed a hitch with a 2" receiver, and the Curt hitch is only available with the 1 1/4" receiver. I used a 1 1/4" to 2" adapter for the bike rack, but was not...

    Finally got a bike rack

Having had both styles of racks (roof and hitch) I have come to the conclusion that the hitch rack works best for me. Try driving into a low overhang with a $3000 mountain bike on the roof and you'll see what I mean. I recently installed a hitch rack on my MS3, and I couldn't be happier. The...

    ECU reflash at Mazda

I was able to get the reflash, and I pretty much agree with what others have said about how the car seems to hold power to redline better. My car was already running great before, but it seems to have just a tad more midrange punch and better top end. One other I have noticed is that it also...

    another recall!!

I had the reflash done a few days ago, and in talking to the service advisor, he claims the reflash helps reduce how rich the car runs during cold-start. This would explain why some people could smell gas coming from the tailpipe at startup. The one thing I've noticed since the reflash is that...

srt4 caliber dyno's 281 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque at the wheels.. edmunds 1st drive

Impressive HP numbers, but the sum still falls well short of the MS3.

target price for leftover '07 MS3

200 test drive miles??? That's enough to be considered a used vehicle in my book. Unless they give you a smokin' deal, pass. I paid $750 under MSRP for mine (straight off the truck with 7 miles for PDI, NO test drives), but I'm lucky enough to be near 3 dealerships who were very eager to get my...

Consumer Reports Tested the Mazda Speed 3

I am aware of how they gather their reliability data, perhaps I should have said "Consumer Reports is a good resource to research reliability and safety ratings..." Better?

    13.6 Baby

Car and Driver was able to extract a 14.0 @ 101 with a stock MS3, so it is definitely possible. Note that the car had over 8,000 miles on it, so it was nice and broken in. I believe these cars are pretty tight from the factory, and get quite a bit faster as they break in. Check this out: BTW...

    Caliber srt-4 goes 0-60 in 5.5 seconds

First off, I could personally give a **** if the SRT is quicker in the 1/4 mile or 0-60 or whatever, it is still an ass-ugly car. Trust me, when the inevitable magazine comparos come out, the MS3 will be on top when everything is taken into consideration. Second, why should our handling should...

    Caliber srt-4 goes 0-60 in 5.5 seconds

Big +1, I've always been about bang for the buck, and IMO the MS3 cannot be beat for the $$, not just for performance but for overall fit and finish. While the performance specs for the SRT may be similar, I highly doubt that the overall package will come close to the MS3. Also, the styling...

Consumer Reports Tested the Mazda Speed 3

Consumer reports is good for researching reliability and safety ratings about cars, that is about it. They are not about specs or getting great 1/4 mile times and really don't wax poetic like the other car magazines do. I am pleased, however, to see that they gave the MS3 a very high rating. It...

    Speed3 TWM SS Installed

Just curious, how does the height difference affect the ergonomics? Does it feel uncomfortable now, having to reach a bit lower? Unless the arm rest was lowered the same amount as the shifter, it would seem to not be a good match.

MS3 Loose Stabilizer Bar Nut - Clunks from the rear

I brought my MS3 in to have a rattling noise from the rear checked out, and the first thing the service advisor did was check the swaybar endlink bolt - sure enough, it had backed out. Unfortunately, the threads were stripped, so a new part is on order. Fortunately, they were able to provide a...
