    iPhone/iPod connectivity

Hi, Rush! I'm just curious if your new stereo came yet, and if you had a chance to do the install? Thanks! -Maryjane

    iPhone/iPod connectivity

Yes, and that's just what I'm looking for, plus the ability to play music from my iphone, and to actually see my clock. Thanks again! -MJ

    iPhone/iPod connectivity

Good point. But then just to be clear, the JVC linked to above by Rush easily puts out as much wattage as the stock sytem, right? I would like to first change the head unit in my car, mosty so I get a clock and iphone compatability, and then I can assess whether I need to consider and amplifier...

    iPhone/iPod connectivity

Does anyone know the specs of these stock sound systems? I've looked through the owner's manual and online, and I can't seem to find that information. Specifically, I'd like to know how many watts the head unit puts out, and if there's a separate amplifier in these cars, or if it's in the head...

Thank you! I just didn't want to hijack your thread, but I think we're talking about bascially the same stock stereo system, and it sounds like we're looking for a simliar upgrade. In fact, I'm considering the very same unit from Crutchfield myself. Good luck, I'll be tagging along to see how...

    iPhone/iPod connectivity

Hi guys! As the recent owner of a 2001 Protege with the same stock stereo unit Rush described, and a long time fan of the iphone, I am here seeking the same info about upgrading my stereo. I'm not trying to hijack Rush's thread, but if someone could maybe try to explain what's the best way to...

Hello from a new 2001 Mazda Protege Owner!

Yeah, I've already been in touch with the Attorney General's office, as well as my state's Lemon Law Unit, and both agreed the law was pretty clear. Forgetting about warranties and everything else, the dealer is by law required to provide me with a vehicle that is safe to operate on the public...

Hello from a new 2001 Mazda Protege Owner!

I'm not a mechanic, or really even an enthusiast, but as far as I'm concerned it was totally a fluke thing. And, no, that dealer did not do the repairs, lol! I had the wheel initially repaired by the good folks at Monroe Muffler and Brake, and then I had my highly trusted local Ford service...

Hello from a new 2001 Mazda Protege Owner!

Hi! Thank you for the reply! Yes, I have pics both before and after. I'm not sure what I need to do to post them here, looks like I'll need some sort of hosting service. -MJ

Hello from a new 2001 Mazda Protege Owner!

There was honestly no warning at all, it took me totally by surprise. At first I thought I hit something invisible in the road, but there was nothing at all. And actually two lug studs were found to be missing, and I believe the other two were stripped, so all four lug studs had to be replaced...

Hello from a new 2001 Mazda Protege Owner!

Thank you for the reply. I agree with you, and the most logical solution to explain ALL FOUR lug nuts failing at once is that the wheel was removed during the state safety inspection, but was not replaced correctly. Either way, my state law says the dealer is responsible to provide a vehicle...

Hello from a new 2001 Mazda Protege Owner!

tweety2300, thank you for the reply, but I'm not sure I understand you. Are you suggesting that the timing belts on these vehicles are prone to failure? Mine looks very new, just by looking at it, you can still see the white writing on it. And I'm hoping for 30+ mpg's if the car is working as it...

Hello from a new 2001 Mazda Protege Owner!

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I didn't get back to some of you sooner, but in fact, the unthinkable actually occurred... I picked up my new-to-me 2001 Mazda Protege from a small time dealer last Thursday afternoon, and on Friday, just about 24 hours later, with no warning, the front driver's side...
