Ok, so I found J-04 and there was electrical tape covering the proper wires indicating that they had tried to do the wire tap there. So I guess my question now is what is the probability the receiver unit is broke?

Alright I know I have the appropriate part numbers (verified this with Mazda). Now I went back and looked at the work that had been done by the previous two installers who tried to connect this. I believe they may have hooked up the CAN (+) and CAN (-) wiretaps incorrectly. In the instructions...
