My glove compartment has a light that comes on at the same time the car detects that the navigation interface should be dimmed not to blind you. Have you checked this? Its a european 2013/2014 model. No lock though

I have both the pinging and the brake creaking. The creaking has been there since the start but is getting better. Seems to creak more when cold and right after a car wash for some reason. The pinging has been there all along too. disappears when releasing accelerator. I have a diesel automatic...
