    Real World MPG numbers?

Ahh, but less friction, less heat, less expansion. Just playing the devils advocate...

    Real World MPG numbers?

Still trying to find one. Everyone I find goes quicker than I can get it or is out of my price range. J.D.

    Real World MPG numbers?

Wow, this thread continued... Nice Ok, so maybe 28-30 is achievable in an automatic with 80 highway, 20 city driving, synthetics, a good air filter?? Gee, I just ran across an '03 with 120k on chassis and 1,200 on new engine. It's in my price range and meets all my criteria...

    Real World MPG numbers?

Great info guys, thanks so much!! While I love the styling, I guess I better concentrate on the Ford Focus because it can do low 30's with city/hwy mix. I was just hoping that the extra weight of the hatch back didn't hinder the MPG's. I had an '01 protege with about the same commute as I...

    Real World MPG numbers?

Looking for a commuter car for my wife and I like the 5's for their styling, but wanted to get some good numbers for city/highway driving. Found one with 127k, new pistons and heads, automatic. Hoping I can squeeze out the low 30's I could in my Protege. Also if you know of any others for...

    Need quick timing belt help!!

I think that is what I did, but based mine on which valve was about to open. You want the intake valve opening at TDC. Primemover - I doubt you have done any damage because it is a non-interference engine, meaning that if the timining belt breaks, the valves to not contact the piston. J.D.

    P0325 Code with P0660

I got a CEL a while back, Autozone read and cleared the codes for me. The car seems to be running fine, but is hard to start on occasion. So based on the manual I have (ugly.net), I did a resistance test on the sensor which should be 560 kilohms. The needle on my tester barely moved, so I...

    Need quick timing belt help!!

So in this picture, the "I" cam is at the 3 o'clock position and the "E" is at the 9? I honestly don't remember now how mine is setup. I am sure tho, that the lobe needs to be pushing DOWN the valve to open it. Right now your intake has closed and your exhaust is about to open. Try both...

    Need quick timing belt help!!

I'm all ears. If I indeed had them 180* off, what would be happening? I am more than happy to test a theory or two that would prove I am 180* out. J.D.

    Need quick timing belt help!!

If I had things off 180 wouldn't I be sucking air in from the tail pipe and exhausting thru the intake? Which should cause it to run bad and smoke coming from the intake. I don't get any of that. The main purposed of the timing belt is to keep the valves in time with the cranks. So you set...

    Need quick timing belt help!!

I am glad I could help. That's the whole reason to post it and if I only help one person, the effort was all worth it. I have probably put about 1000 miles on the car since I did this without issue and getting at or above 30mpg, so I find it hard to believe anything is wrong. I also bought my...

    Need quick timing belt help!!

I had to rush on the post above because we had guests coming for dinner. Saturday I had my wife start the car while I held tension on the belt with a alan wrench and it seemed to be running fine. yesterday, I put the tensioner back on, hooked up the spring and started the car again and it...
