2 years old and 53,000 miles later...

coming up on 80k since fall 2005 obviously we're getting some good use out of our 5 - our primary hauler for 2 adults and 2 kids under 4 - occasionally we've squeezed 3 60lb dogs in with us for road trips (pretty cozy but the roof rack cargo carrier saves the day). we've got a 2006 5 speed...

What is the lowest temperature recorded on your Mazda5?

I saw a -14F here this past week (St. Paul) - Windchill was something ridiculous - I won't even go there. The digital display was pretty lethargic and the manual shifter was like moving tar. Do any versions come with plug-in engine block heaters?

Mazda5 vs KIA Rondo comparisons and articles (merged)

I believe the whole thing was a grand experiment - partially to see if they could luck upon a gas-price driven economy/crossover market and partially to offset the retirement of the MPV for dealers - they knew the core minivan market was going the way of the dinosaur. Overall a wise bet with...

    2008 Mazda 5 Spy Shots

looks like they turned the front lines up towards the roof line angle a bit - makes the hood look a bit less "nosey" - just visual tricks but should fit the "sportier" claim. definitely just a "refresh" - but I'd go for it on the passenger armrest alone

Mazda5 - New owner to be

has anyone seen any comfirmed pictures of the 2008? I know there was a line item on some list stating the exterior would be "freshened" - I'm not expecting much change. I've had our 5 since August of 2005 when our baby was 4 months old. It's been a great vehicle and we're approaching 60k...

Baby seat safety in a 5

I'm certainly no expert on these things but for some reason, I thought when these things were rear-facing, they were designed to sort of flop up against the seat in a collision. Thinking about it more, I guess that would only really ever happen in a rear-end collision, so it's probably moot...

    Cargo space?

I only have one toddler full-time but several times have had two toddlers plus a 5 yr old in it and everything worked real well for around the town driving. As a grocery getter - you might be using an empty passenger seat for overflow because with only one third row seat folded down, you're...

Mazda5: 44% fleet sales in US

Looks like the 3-row cross-over (Pilot/Highlander/Acadia/CX-9) market is set to flat-out explode in the next 5 years as people run from minivans and Expeditions/Tahoes to 22-26 mpg cross-overs. I think the 5 would have raised some eyebrows had it produced EPA 32+mpg. At 26ish it doesn't seem...
