If the strip really is not painted perhaps you can find some way to fill the damage and level it. Than you can use PlastiDip to cover the strip.

If that’s clear coat failure I don’t think it can be corrected besides repainting. It’s just going to get worse. ☹️. The paint on my 2013 is starting to do the same thing but it’s further along. If you run your hand over the spots it’ll probably feel rough.

It’s been raining down here all week and finally drove the CX-5 in the rain. With the intermittent wipers set on the lowest setting, it stats of with a pause in between strokes but then after a couple of minutes the strokes are continuous.

Sounds like a scam. No real value. If your car is stolen and chopped up for parts, you don’t really want it back! From what I take from the info card that OP posted, the only theft deterrence is the sticker they put on the window saying “Stop! This vehicle protected by Dipping Dots”
