Here in Florida it's flat and I don't tow a boat; so FWD works fine for me. However, if I did tow or live in a hilly area prone to rain or snow, AWD would be my choice. You do pay a performance penalty but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

I just got my CX-9 Sport FWD last Sunday and the first tank gave 19.66 mpg on a combination 30% City 70% freeway (70 - 80 mph cruise). I'm expecting this to improve a bit as the engine loosens up - not bad at all for a car this big!
