You should be able to tap into the 12v outlet or the cargo light. They are not in the hatch itself but they are close.

I sure will. I am planning on replacing the front and rear speakers, the head unit, and building a fiberglass sub enclosure to fit behind one of the rear fender panels in the back. This should happen over the next few months.

Thanks! If I really needed to change something, I'll probably just plug up the OEM unit to make the changes. I don't see any of them being a frequent change after I have it setup to my liking.

New CX-5 owner here. The dealer I went to had no sport auto models with the basic radio. I had to get one with the bluetooth audio. I will be replacing the headunit with something aftermarket and was wondering if anyone knows what will happen to the system settings, such as lights dimming...
