Sorry no updates yet. Probably going to install this weekend.

    It's brake time

Rotor were cut on a bench lathe and came off relatively easy. Couple or taps with a small rubber mallet. When I got them back the first time, initially replaced in the same position and used a on-car dial gauge to measure the runout. Even tried changing positions and each time it was ~0.01"...

    It's brake time

Thanks for all the input. The rotors had ~50k on them. Ordered a set of the Centric High Carbons. Hopefully they don't take to long to ship. Meanwhile, the shop said they would recut them but no refunds. This is only after I pointed out that the their original cut was incomplete. There was...

    It's brake time

My worst case scenario had come to life. Had a shop bench cut the rotors. Bad bad bad idea. They introduced so much runout that I do not want to drive the car at the moment. At any position, runout is at 0.01", 6.67 times Mazda's maximum spec. The shop is willing to re-do the cut. Looking...

    It's brake time

It's that time. Front brakes are down to <20%. Figured I'd just do all four since the wife has mentioned that she'd like more stopping power. I have front and rear EBC Yellow stuff and Motul 600 RBF ready to install. Here is my issue(bang)... I have measured my rotor thickness variation...

    Overfilled CV Boots?

Kinda figured that was going to be the case. Just going to re-strap the boots when I have some time. For the time being, I used some big zipties over the existing straps and it seems to have put enough pressure to stop the seeping. I also found some polyurea based grease designed for inboard...

    Overfilled CV Boots?

I did contact Mazda USA to try and see if I could get better clarification on the coverage. I used the chat function at http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/contactMazda.action. Here is the transcripts... Another thing to consider is that the car is lowered and I do not know if that would affect...

    Overfilled CV Boots?

Anyone know what type of grease in the in inner joint (tripod Joint)? Does Mazda use a polyurea type? Thinking of just replacing the bands and adding some Amsoil grease to replace what was lost. Only issue is if it is a polyurea type grease it may be incompatible with the Amsoil Calcium...

    Overfilled CV Boots?

That's not what my local Mazda says. They interpret it as the Joint is covered against failure but the boot is not and considered a wear and tear maintenance item. I though it was funny (ok not funny) because my friend that work in the parts dept says they do not even carry the boot as they...

    Overfilled CV Boots?

So far local dealership says this is not covered under the powertrain. Quoted me $875 to repair.(mad) Anyone else had experienced this? How much was it to repair?

    Overfilled CV Boots?

While installing the fumoto valve today, I noticed that both left and right inner CV boots seem to be leaking. I cleaned them up and checked for cracks and/or tears. I found no damage to the boots but noticed they seem to be leaking from the small clamp area(scratch). Any thoughts? Could the...
