I have noticed on my '02 P5 when its cold that there is a definite notch,clunk,etc. going up to 2nd. Wonder if lighter synthetic would solve that problem. I think there is 70-90w in it now. Anybody running lighter synthetic in manuals.

You have to get dedicated snow tires for the Pro 5. I tried the standard Dunlops in Wis and no traction. I have Blizzaks and steel wheels. Still some sliding on hard stops but a world of difference. Tirerack.com still the cheapest but new Blizzaks WS50 not as good as MZ-01 or 02.

I have noticed a definite whine in the drivetrain when accelerating lately in the 3-4-5 gears. It stops as soon as I let up on the accelerator. Sometimes it is very loud, other time just noticeable. No problems with clutch or shifting and I have 7000mi on the car. I have Blizzaks on the car...
