no you will see two stops on the glove box when you open it just push those stops in and it will move down a little more witch gives you the room to work in there.

yes someone has on a mazda 6. same filter and blower. don't know what he used. he made the filter himself. this the link for removal of the filter. needed time to find. its the mazda6 pic's but its the samething for removel and install.

yes it can be removed just make sure you put it back in the same way it came out. you have to squize it alittle to get in there. cleaning it, i just shake it out tap it on something to get bugs and rocks out. by the book you change it every 12000 miles i belive. its takes not even 5min to do...

Don't run it with out the filter, something might get in there. I have pulled leafs, rocks, paper and all kinds of stuff out of there. check mine once a month. could not tell you why other cars don't have fliter. you can't go wrong with it in. cuts down on the dust.

its behind the glove box. you will see it at your right. the cover is about 1 1/2" to 2" tall, and is white. it also has 4 tabs that comes out real easy. just pull on it. When you in stall a new filter make sure you put it in the right way. you can mess you your blower. also have a bag ready...
