For me, the stock shifter was far and away the single worst feature of the whole car. Our 3rd car is a Miata, so I know what a good shifter feels like and the ones Mazdas stuck in the P5's are . . . . junk! We bought our silver '02 in '03 with 4500 miles on it and I installed an aftermarket...
