Finding the reverse wire....electrical wiring whizzes out there?

I didn't notice 2 wires when I did the install. I just tapped into the first one I saw. Note sure if there are actually 2 (one for each reverse... I think these are the power leads for the reverse lights so there might be 2)

Finding the reverse wire....electrical wiring whizzes out there?

No, my windows aren't tinted. But after a lot of snow in the Northeast this year, having the camera inside (where I can clear the window with the rear wiper) has been a huge plus. One downside to my location though is that you cannot see the rear bumper in the camera's view. The view down to...

Finding the reverse wire....electrical wiring whizzes out there?

Forgot to add, I used a Kenwood camera. No complaints... good visibility and auto-adjusts for dark settings.

Finding the reverse wire....electrical wiring whizzes out there?

I installed it at the top of the window on the inside of the back door (see attached picture). There are a few installs in this forum that have put it here and I've seen one recent post of someone installing the camera down near the license plate (although threading the wire down to that...

    FINALLY DONE!!! ...for now.

Awesome install! Can't believe you got the entire headliner out! Wow!! One note: You mention you wanted a switch to turn the backup camera on at any time. If you hold the NAV button down for 1 sec on the Kenwood, that will give you the reverse camera at any time (not just while in reverse)...

    install kit to din radio

I ended with those gaps around the A/C knobs and buttons too. It's appears the metra dash kit is just a tad too thick. But the gap isn't enough to worry about. Just not as nice a fit as the OEM dash... but much nicer sound, eh! (thumb)

Finding the reverse wire....electrical wiring whizzes out there?

Everyone, It's definitely the Red wire with the yellow stripe. (at least it is on the 2008 GT). You can get to it by removing the kick panel on the right side. There's a bundle of wires coming down from the blue connector - they are wrapped by black electrical tape. Unwrap the tape and sift...

    2008 Mazda 5 Wire Harness

And if you are planning to use the steering wheel controls, you'll need to re-pin the harness (at least the one that Crutchfield sells you) so that pins 12 and 13 are wired. See this thread: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123701738 I moved the power antenna and the remote...

    Replacement Head Unit Question

Yes, the display and the bluetooth are in the head unit. But when replacing the head unit, the clock and the A/C-fan-temp portions of the dash display still work. Only the middle portion of the display (the section that says "hello!") will no longer operate. FYI, my aftermarket headunit...

    Replacement Head Unit Question

I just replaced my headunit and simply left the old wiring (for the aux input and presumably the bluetooth) unplugged. There are 3 plugs in the back of the stock unit: 1) the Antenna 2) a 6 pin plug (or around 6 pins... can't remember) 3) a 24-pin I simply left the 6 pin unplugged and wired my...
