Brakes failed in the snow after hours of driving in storm -- not tires

Thank you for the response. Where I live, it is impossible for any driver to avoid standing water when it is cold out. We get many feet of snow every year and routinely drive through water and thick slush. What's so unnerving to me is this: Myself, my husband, my parents (in their 80s), our...

Brakes failed in the snow after hours of driving in storm -- not tires

Dealer finds nothing wrong /fearful/ leaning toward others' suggestion about frozen Dealer said everything -- tires, brakes, abs -- looks good and that computer diagnostics showed no problem. We're meeting dealer tomorrow to see if we can replicate issue, but based on some other posts here, I...

Brakes failed in the snow after hours of driving in storm -- not tires

No smell, FYI. Thank you for the replies. I looked online for other similar issues...some mention (not Mazda, though) of ABS sensor problems can cause similar. I look forward to reading others' ideas...and will, of course, inform you all of what the diagnosis is, along with remedy.

Brakes failed in the snow after hours of driving in storm -- not tires

Negotiate was probably the wrong term. I wasn't talking in terms of dollars. Just negotiating in terms of information...and explanation to dealer. I guess I'm worried dealer won't find anything and will send me on my way only to have it happen again during next snow... I had an issue with this...

Brakes failed in the snow after hours of driving in storm -- not tires

Yesterday, after driving freeway and stop-and-go through storm in which 5 inches of snow fell, I was 1/2 mile from home, going about 30 mph when I started to brake for a light and the foot peddle violently shook and didn't want to compress, slowing my car but not stopping it and pushing me to...

    Any Complaints (hopefully all minor)

We've had our white GT AWD for nearly 1,000 miles now -- Love 97 percent of it and strangers in parking lots have approached a half-dozen times to ask about eye-catching vehicle. My favorites: Ease (and fun) of handling...comfort...fuel efficiency...and cargo space. We went to Costco this week...

    You choose what color?

Two things heavily influenced us on exterior color: a) What colors the heavy black trim looked best against b) What exterior color would be OK with black interior since gray isn't an option (we're too messy to go tan...lived and learned). Loved the darker blue, but not with the black...

Weathertech Digital Fit Floor Liner - Now Available for CX-5

Thank you forum, thank you WeatherTech We picked up our CX-5 (GT, AWD pearl white with black leather) Friday and hubby installed WeatherTech mats Saturday before we went to work. As always, we filled a pump pot with coffee and put it on the floor in back seat. As bad luck would have it, the pot...

Some CX-5s are being delayed because of leaking engine mount

Thanks for responses You've eased my mind a bit...and I could see how this could happen in most any car production. This is our first Mazda. And this is the first time we ever bought a new model coming out of the gate...so a bit more nerves, I guess.

Some CX-5s are being delayed because of leaking engine mount

Our CX-5 was supposed to be in last week. That was bumped until this week. And now dealer forwarded a message from Joe Marchese of Mazda USA that includes a short list of other CX-5s delayed for the same repair. Here is pertinent text from Marchese forward: See attached message regarding your...

    Still waiting for my CX-5

We ordered mid-March and received an email from dealer today saying that our White CX-5 GT AWD (with black interior) will be in the first week of May. We can't get a vehicle in a dealer swap because we had to make the purchase (fork over the money) in March as part of a family financial plan...
