I did a complete 6L swap from Mercon 5 to genuine Mazda M5 fluid.. car ran great for about a week and now its back to its old self.. its like a kick in the stomach when it upshifts.

Hey guys. Looking to replace my 99 1.8L 4 Speed Transmission... research has indicated that the 99-03 1.6/1.8/2.0 uses the same FN4A-EL transmission. Does that mean I can use a 2.0L tranny from the 2001+ P5 or 2.0 Sedan in my 1.8L? Is there anything I should know, or is it a direct bolt up and...

Forgot to update this thread...insurance sued the building... building lost... I got my money back so did the insurance.... the building had to put up a steel fence to prevent this from happening again....:):) Happy ending.

I pretty much gave up on a hitch style rack cause the hitch costs lots of $$$ and I don't want to add one to my protege. While i was looking around a relative inexpensive trunk rack dropped into my lap from someone @ work. I put it on the back and it fits real nice... i'm only concerned about...

Being that summer is around the corner, I want to make our little mazda a little more utility friendly.... have any of you found a good bike rack for your proteges? Either OEM or aftermarket, if you have how did you mount it? Was drilling required? What do you recommend?

How does that look? Have you done it on your 99?

Anyone know how to swap out the black (ugly) door handles from a 99 LX protege 4dr for colour matched door handles from a 00 LX? I want to get the side mouldings painted but they won't match my door handles... are they paintable or should i just pickup some silver handles from a 2000 model?
