Would 17x8 et 40 work well on a P5?

Just checking to see if this setup would work:

17x8 et 40, wrapped on 215/45. Very lightly lowered on Tein H.Tech, so that's just 1" drop. Do you think I have to roll fenders? Or will it be okay since my drop is not too drastic. Thanks.

I think you'll have fender issues in the rear without adjustable control arms. In the front, you'll need camber plates to bring the tires under the fenders, too.

Back in the day, I had FD RX7 wheels (16x8 +50) on my Protegé sedan, which has slightly more clearance than the Protegé5. I had those wheels with 215/45-16 tires and the tires were VERY close to the rear fenders. I'll have to see if I can dig up some pictures...

Sorry, I also had 3mm spacers front and rear, so effective offset of +47.
If those were 215/45-17s, I believe they would have rubbed without camber correction or fender rolling.

I've run 17x7.5 +38 wheels on both a slight drop and coilover setups, 215/40 tires from memory so close enough specs, though yours would be even tighter

Factory strut clearance was tight, especially at the rear, guards definitely needed rolling front and rear. The lip of the wheel sits inside the edge of the guard 10mm or so

17x7 NC Miata wheels with 205/45-17 tires would be an excellent daily option. Lightweight, they will fit, and give you good performance when you want to tear it up depending on your tire choice.

This is 17x8 not sure of offset, 205/40/17s and lowered 1.5" on Espelir springs/Tokico Illuminas. No fender rolling and no rubbing even with full tank and/or rear passengers.............
