What did you pay for your CX-5?

Finally "settled" on a deal for a '21 GTR. Could have worked harder or waited longer, but got "close enough" for us (didn't exceed our ceiling). We are located in upstate NY and there was not much room for negotiation offered by anyone within 200 miles.

Deal we leveraged but ended up turning down (Baltimore, MD area):
'21 GTR Deep Crystal Mica Blue MSRP $36,330
Quoted Price w/ $1,100 delivery fee $33,456 (7.9% discount)
Plus $500 dealer doc fee $33,956 (6.5% discount)

Was able to get local dealer to nearly "match" by laying out "extra" on trade-in allowance:
'21 GTR Sonic Silver MSRP $36,395
Quoted price w/ $1,100 delivery fee $35,008 (3.8% discount)
Plus $75 dealer doc fee $35,083 (3.6%)
Minus add'l negotiated trade allowance $34,281 (5.8%)

Obviously a little funky math on my end to get there, but cash is fungible and the overall number worked for us. Not to mention saving a long Saturday trip and the hassle of offloading 2 beater cars. Another tale of "coulda done better but we're happy with what we got."

Appreciate all the advice and pricing references shared here.
Congrats on the purchase! Share some photos when you can.

Just bought a new 2020 CX-5 GTR in white/snowflake color in Houston, TX today.

Total MSRP for the car was $37,135 (= $35,135 + Destination fee of $1,100 + $900 in factory installed options such as snowflake paint color, rear parking sensor, cargo mat, rear bumper guard)

Total dealership discount + $750 (0% financing cash incentive) = $3,980 (or 10.7% of MSRP) ,bringing total MSRP to adjusted price before TT&L of $33,155. Sale tax is 6.25% plus all other non-taxable fees of $423.

Final drive out price was $35,650 with $0 down and 0% interest financing for 60 months. I opted for lower cash incentive of $750 as opposed to $2,000 in order to get 0% interest financing.

Hope I did okay with this deal but please comment to let me know. Thanks

Your suggesting 18% off a 21. Which would be about 7k on a GTR. A little much Id say. Basically your saying. Offer 30k on a 37 sticker. Id say 11% is more realistic.
@CX5_Driver Thank you for your input

@Luke Thomas Thank you for your input

In my situation, the total discount of $3,980 (or 10.7% off MSRP) could have been higher at $5,230 (or 14.1%) if I had opted for paying with cash or financing at 3%-4% instead at 0%. I wanted to put down $0 cash and finance the whole purchase at 0% over 60 months. The interest over 60 months I would have to pay at 3%-4% will be approx. $1,800 more.

You can finance from dealer and after 30 days you can switch to whatever you want. I financed from my dealer then switched to Credit Union for 1.75% rate. it costed me $70 in all.

Can anyone tell me if this lease offer for a 2021 CX-5 GT AWD is a good deal? A few other dealerships that I have brought this quote to said that it was too low for them to even attempt to negotiate on. I'm in NJ if that matters.
  • $0 down
  • $382.75 for 33 months

First time buyer and I got the following offer on a car, how do I negotiate this down?

2021 AWD W/PP Metallic Gray

MSRP: $ 28,410
Destination Fee: $ 1,100
TOURING PREFERRED SV PKG $1,445

Individual Options:
ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS $125
MACHINE GRAY METALLIC PAINT CHARGE $495
WHEEL LOCKS $65

Total MSRP: $ 31,640

Dealer Price: $30,571
Sales Tax: $2,713
NYS DMV FEES new plates $333 (includes doc fee, inspection, reg fee etc).
“We do not have any dealer fees or charges.”

Total: $33,617

According to Edmunds the invoice price is $30,571 so this should be a good deal.

Do I counter with 10% off MSRP $28,476?

I've never leased, but on a sale, it's a good general assumption that you're getting a good deal of other dealers can't match the price

New 2020 CX5 Touring, AWD, Preferred package

$27,354.92 purchase
$1928.84 tax (Indiana)

-1500 rebate +199.99 doc fee +15$ title fee

2020 GT Reserve - after rebate, D&H fees, tax, trade on 18 year old Honda Accord, and clear mask package: $37,700.

You should have kept the 18 year-old Accord as a beater or backup - that's back when Honda built quality automobiles.

@CO CX5, sorry for my ignorance but what is the clear mask package how much was it? Asking because I just bought my 2020 GTR this week (scroll up a few posts above for price breakdown). Thank you.

Yes, you got a great color and a great deal - congratulations. My clear mask was 18" of the hood, mirrors and the recessed areas of all four door handles for $400 including a ten year warranty. It was a pretty impulsive purchase. There may be better deals out there. I do have to say they did a pretty good job.

It may not the best deal but sounds like a fun purchase for you! Share some photos when you can. Congrats
A bit late, but here she is. Still loving it. 2021 GT-R
