The Progression of my V.1 Street Sleeper Turbo build

As you can appreciate... it has taken a while to gather my wits enough to deal with stuff like getting video uploaded for the masses! lol!
Anyway, the following are unedited (read lengthy) but it is what it is. Had an issue with the 2nd camera so there is only one view per run and the first and second run were both caught only with the interior camera. The third run was a roof mount rear view and then the fateful 4th run was a forward facing drivers side view as well as a slo-mo. There are a couple of shorts at the start taken by my brother as well.

Looked like quite the smack!! Hope you recover quickly!

Post up pics of the car when you can.

I had a really great adventure this past MAY! An event that has been on my "BUCKET LIST" for a few years now has finally been checked off. A lot of my cohorts in the racing community had been and done it and they were instrumental in convincing me it was something I had to do. It took a lot of planning and preparation and it was all I thought about for the weeks/months prior to finally embarking on the journey. I was able to compile the 6 days in a 2 part video (parts of which are clips that I posted previously) that I will share here for those who have the time to watch. The total length of both parts is just shy of an hour so sit back and enjoy!

The unibody is actually bent. The rear hatch is popped and jammed. Both right side doors are binding. Amazingly no glass broke! It will need to go on a frame rack to get it sorted. Quite a few suspension bits are toast although it does appear that my AWR rear sway bar is okay. The lower body on my front right BC coil is also trashed. The wheel spindle was literally ripped off it. Hope I can get it replaced without having to buy the whole unit. At least one of the FD rims is also bent. There may be some shift linkage damage as well as it will not shift at all. I haven't had it out of the trailer yet. I'm not in any rush.

Ouch. I remember hitting a curb with the front driver side tire. Those things can cause some damage. Hope all goes well, I just hope I don't do it with the mp5.

So I peeked in the trailer the other day and took stock of what I need for rear suspension parts and they are now in transit from Mazdamotorsports. Lower mount for the front BC Coilover is also in transit. Plus, I was able to source a set of FD rims locally so now I have some spares! :D
There will be more parts to source yet but again, I am in no rush. I've got all winter yet to get things back together and then I intend to return to Knox Mountain for their 60th annual in my 60th! *yikes* lol!

Congrats Mark for getting in Grassroots magazine! Looks Good!

Just let me know if you need a nice new rust free platform to bolt on all you goodies to...

Thanks! I had completely forgotten about my submission to "Stuck On You" and I was laying in bed leafing through the mag that had arrived a few days earlier. When I opened page 32 I think I woke the neighbors when I whooped upon realizing I was looking at my car! lol!
I'm driving down to Victoria Airport this Friday to clear all the parts from Mazdamotorsports through customs. Getting closer to actually doing something (re)constructive! :D

This is a copy of a post I just made in the GRASSROOTS MOTORSPORTS on-line forum and thought I'd share it here as well...

Yesterday I received an EMAIL from the organizing club for the KNOX MOUNTAIN HILL CLIMB that I participated in for the first time last MAY long weekend. It was an ill fated event for me as on my fourth run up the mountain, I had a hard crash on a high-speed left-hand sweeper. I collided sideways with a concrete barrier and moved it almost a foot! My car is now a severely bent unibody hatchback that has been residing in it's trailer ever since. I have slowly been collecting suspension parts that I have easily been able to identify as needing replacement. My biggest hurdle that I can foresee so far is the cost of putting the car on a frame rack and seeing if it will re-shape to the point where I can replace the bent bits. There may be more issues that I am unable to diagnose for now, but it's all about baby steps. (And don't even mention cosmetics.) I have been trying to convince myself that somehow it will all come together and I will be able to participate in the 2017-60th Anniversary KNOX MOUNTAIN HILL CLIMB. Ever since I crashed, I've been thinking that this would be a Birthday Present to myself as I will be turning 60 at the end of this month. Anyway... This is the EMAIL from yesterday:

Hi Mark

Hope all is well with you.

Below is an email/invoice from the City of Kelowna, to our club, Knox Mountain Motor Sport club, for damages to the tree that Brian Browning in car # 23 hit when he spun in corner # 4, plus charges for relocating the concrete barriers “ No Post” in corner # 5 that you hit .

Brian Browning’s amount has been paid which was $ 450.00

Our club was hoping you would pay your amount of $ 464.31 for repositioning the concrete curbs.

Please mail your cheque to Allen Reid ***** and make cheque payable to KMMS

If you have any questions, please email me

Thank you

Allen Reid

Wondering if any others have run into similar circumstances?

Ha, the last time I crashed (me installing new MSP front end) was at autobahn. They charged Midwestern some exorbitant amount that the club is not going back there. Midwestern never ever asked any money from me. Nor from any club member when they mess up a rail or sack of tires. Most tracks do charge the renting club for damages. Usually that small amount that is covered under their insurance.

I have a feeling that if the club is run right they have insurance that covers these expenses. So you have already paid that when you paid your entry fee. If the club is some small time amateur stuff then yes you might be stuck with that or just tell them you sent the check already and its in the mail. Or check your entry form for the fine print and see if you are to be held responsible.

Either way 450 is a kick in the di*k, but it will make you that much better of a driver. Now quit your bi*hing and get that banana back on the road. On apexspeed I have seen way to many cars sit for a decade or more. All it does is make it that much harder to get the car back on the road. Dont let the seals dry out. Dont let the fluids rot. Dont let a crash slow you down. Let it make you stronger/smarter/faster. Just get another credit card and put that thing up on a rack and see where your at! If its good, great. Now you can tinker your way back into the drivers seat. If its bad, then part that thing out and pay back some bills and let others enjoy the go fast parts.

To me, I agree that the club should have some sort of insurance or something. Whether its through each drivers entry fee, or just something they have.

Wrecking unintentionally, and having to pay for damages, seems a bit harsh/wrong to me.

Then again, I don't own a racing club or a racing circuit so
