I have a bit of a odd situation. My son’s backpack strap got caught directly in the lift gate lock on my 2018 CX-9 Grand Touring. I tried popping out the panel and manually releasing the latch as per the user manual to no avail. When I click the remote I get the double beep, the mechanism starts and then stops. Any suggestions other than dealer? Really stuck without car and can’t afford to leave at dealer for any period of time. Any advice welcome. Thanks!

Does the liftgate open at all, even partially, or does it remain closed?
Sorry but the only suggestion I can offer is to fiddle with manual latch from inside the trunk. Maybe you could try jiggling the latch while someone tries to use the remote to open the liftgate, but I wouldn't do that unless it was a last resort as there may be a pinch hazard with all the moving parts. Also, trying to force the liftgate open too often may cause a fuse to blow.
