2021 Mazda CX-5 Turbo First Test Review
Seems a very honest assessment. They loved the CX-5's handling, the Turbo's power delivery, and Mazda's upscale aspirations. Somewhat neutral on the 6-spd transmission (no pun intended) and driver aids, taking a "meh, so what" outlook on these and a few other less-than-tops-in-the-segment issues. Their biggest gripes, if you can call them gripes, were the brakes (or perhaps more so the stock tires' lack of bite when braking) and, of course, the seats (though personally I don't have a problem with them, there does seem to be a lot similar criticism on the forum). But true to MotorTrend's DNA, the CX-5's great handling and spirited performance for an SUV win out over any minor misgivings.
