FnProtege5

Ohhhh boy this is getting interesting!

Very keen to see/hear how you get on with the ECU install!
I’m still debating if I want full standalone or if I should do the harness performance parallel harness. The easiest solution and route is the harness performance plug and play harness.

Thanks brotha hard to stay away. I’ve had many different cars since my first Msp. Some how proteges keep coming back in my line up. Glad to see your still active. Do you still have your Msp?
Yep, I'm in the middle of converting to a mount setup but figuring things out as I go and snail mail is prolonging the setup.

Parts for the forged engine kind of on the back burner right now until I get my suspension, brakes, and haltech installed. I would like the car running and tuned on the haltech before I build the engine.

still waiting for most of the stuff in the mail

I will be posting soon details on a group I will be running for a DOM steel three point strut bar. We are hoping to incorporate a master cylinder support into the design. Will look like the picture but designed for the protege.

That's a serious looking strut brace!
Very curious to see how the master cylinder brace turns out too

That car has a heap of cool custom stuff on it, is there anywhere we can have a look at the whole car? (Build thread/ instagram?)

Lots of little updates. Received all of my suspension stuff on order. The only part I budgeted on for right now are the rotors and went with r1 rotors and pads. Once I track the car I’ll get some nice rotors.

I still need to figure out
1. Poly front bushing for front Msp sway. I haven’t found a drop on replacement. But I would like to set up ones w/ zerk fitting to make it easier to grease.
2. What figure out what option I’m going to use or make to mount the progress rear sway bar. I have the hydra relocation brackets which I had planned to used but found out the bolt pattern is for Msp brackets not p5. I also have the awr p5 sway bar spacers which would work with the progress sway bar. I have a few options first is I make new brackets for the progress bushing w/ an Msp bolt pattern so I can use the hydra relocation mounts. Second option which is also the fastest route I run awr spacer and progress rear sway bar. Third option is I make my own similar to axr where I can run a universal bushing.
3.Setting up the rear evo brakes. Thanks to Steven Clement doing all of the hard work with KMP. I will get the need parts cut. Figure what’s next from there.

About 80 percent done with my rear strut bar. Have to add one more bar to create an x brace. May also add some flat plate for looks.

I will remove the rest of the sticker under the hatch soon lol. There was a bunch from the previous owner.

Under the hood some new stuff.
1.add the carbon Miata oil cap
2.finally installed the valve cover I’ve been working on. The coil on plug setup works perfect. The harnessed performance harness works perfect with the mild tuck. Clocking the cam sensor helped with cleaning everything up even more.
3. dual catch can set up is temporary. Does work but will be designing a catch that will replace both. It will be dual chamber so I can have just one catch can under the hood.
4. Greddy type s bov
5. North Star deep cycle battery

Thank you hopefully we will be starting on the front strut bar soon. I will posts updates. My buddies shop is staying real busy. Once it slows down a little we will start making progress.

Not sure the owner is real low key with his build!

Hopefully in the next week or two I can finish my rear strut bar, building my coolant can, and catch can.

I was able to score a few gems. 505zoom v3 intake manifold, ferdi extended trans brace (if my buddy can find his). Greddy sp2 muffler from a Wrx catback which came w/ a 3” 80 mm inlet. This Saturday I will be at AMF mounting up the Greddy muffler and putting my rear lip back on. I removed the rear lip because the HKS was burning the lip.

Removed the hangers already. Basically a universal muffler

Woohoo, updates on this build!
Coil packs look awesome, does it use yaris coils?

If your BC coilovers are like mine you might not be able to run the factory rear strut top cap things along with your strut brace tops, the studs are slightly too short to get enough thread through.

Great updates! That coil conversion looks great. Surely spark is better too but I'm not sure I can justify that mod right now with my setup lol. Don't want to get rid of my valve cover that's already powdercoated and all.

The coil packs are the denso 1zzfe they come many different toyota. So the factory ecu doesn’t mind them. Seen to be doing there job.

hopefully it’s not an issue with the coilovers but if it is I’ll press in longer studs.

So far the factory ecu doesn’t mind it. Car runs great. On a cold day I get fuel cut but that because I’m basically maxing out my injectors. This conversion can definitely add up real quick

Muffler is finally swapped and mounted my rear lip back on. Just need to make some mounting tabs for the rear lip. The car sounds way louder on the video but stoked on how the car sounds.

I just want to say thank you to the Subaru Greddy sp2 catback that was sacrificed to make my exhaust setup happen
