ok guys, so ive done a poor timeline of keeping track of my msp's progress. but as u can see im far from stock and im in the works of building a forged motor. So i thought i would atleast show my plans for my engine build.
for internals:
K1 Long rod and Wiseco 8.8 to 1 Compression
.020 overbore piston set

goin with a gt3071r turbo.

and comtemplating an mfactory lsd and possibly some transmition gears (3rd and 5th)

Haltech sprint 500 standalone, 440cc injecors (might go with the sti pinks wich i think are 560cc)

all block and head are getting a fresh coat of paint, manifold is gettin jet coated, and i will be doing a mild wire tuck) and might paint the engine bay while im at it.

im back and forth on weather i want to do headwork or not. i mught just throw in some jdm cams or some custom ground cams.

no money to pay a shop to do motorwork so im fairly positive that i have to know how to do so myself.

any comments or opinions welcome, but be civil about it.

I've been waiting for someone to try out the new generation of Haltech ECU's. I have heard that they nice pieces of gear and I'm looking forward to hearing how well the gel with MSP.

Good luck with the build!

i got the block beggining of the week and have it disassembled and ready to go out to the machine shop. one more paycheck and ill have enough for the rods and pistons.

yah, for the price its wayyy worth it.

440cc will be maxed out around 13psi at 6500rpm with GT3071. If you havent bought it go buy sti injector instead.

Make sure u get the extention from sam!

But just do a 5 angle valve job, rest of the head is kinda useless unless you want every ounce of power. Just have a ported intake mani and you should be good.

Your set up is what I'm goingto have one day, well rods an pistons the same, but what bearings are you going to run, better be ACL or whatever haha.

im not super-familiar with 3071R builds, but i would think at that power level youre gonna want upgraded tranny stuff.

is your diff welded? i assume its OEM... is it revised? was it welded after use or when it was still BFN? and i would think if you were considering maxing out that turbo you would want to look at more than just GTX gears... cryo treatment or something.

what would be needed to run them? they are drop in right? i honestly might not even need more then 13 psi. thats pretty agressive.

like i stated, if i do tranny it would just be mfactory and possibly 3rd and 5th gtx. and i will be nowhere near maxing out that turbo, lol. that would probably make me the fastest protege in the world.

if thats all your trying to get i would say go with the splitsecond, GT28RS(so i dont lose all your low end) meth and you should be close and not having to spend alot of money.

just looked at your mod list

correct me if im wrong but can you advance and retard timing with the unichip?

if thats the case just get the professionally tuned and up the boost and you should be golden. u have the perrin fmic, mam mani, and the ghl dp. Those are some nice pieces.

have you dynoed your car yet?

how much, i also can get my hands on a stock one if u can do a trade plus some. can any machine shop custom grind cams or is there specialist that do it. also i was thinking of using automotive machine for the machine work, do u have any others to refer?

i want to have the turbo there just incase i want to go higher. im not a low end racer anyways(glare)

yeah im not sure why youd go to a 3071R with your mods unless you were going to boost to the point where youd need an mfactory and upgraded internals. i guess if you need to replace the OEM turbo (are you currently on the OEM turbo?) it couldnt hurt to go that big, but i wouldnt push it over 350whp on stock tranny. mfactory would be a wise investment in either case.

youre really at a critical juncture, whether you want to take this build all-out, do a minimal 350whp build or somewhere in between. you can get by with 440s, JDM cams, a 28RS and a SSFTC if you dont want to upgrade the tranny, but if youre thinking about going 3071, haltech, custom grind cams, and possibly STI injectors, it only makes sense to do a tranny build while youre at it. otherwise youre selling yourself a bit short when you look at all the money invested.

i am not going with a split second, thats outa the queston. that would be selling myself short. and i just looked up gtx gears, they are pretty cheap i might get those and treat them.

GTX gears that are treated would give you plenty of capacity. and if youre getting those treated, might as well do all of them... cryo treating isnt brutally expensive, i looked it up one time, the estimates they gave for a gearset was like 150 tops

nice looking build!
Mines about the same just with gt28rs instead.
What turbo are you running now? have you dyno'd?

Also if you want to run the gt3071r you also might want to look into a stronger clutch while your there.

But build looks nice
