CX-5 won't start, warning lights on, please help

You take the key fob with the key in it and use it to start the vehicle. This resets the security sensor
Are you saying you were using the wrong fob... one that belonged to a different car?
Or trying to start the car without the fob in the car?

OP did not need it, but a reminder why this $5 interface (along with a free app) is important in case a CEL appears. I am not endorsing any specific seller/source

smell was the cleaner they used. The tow truck driver said more than likely they got the sensor wet and it caused everything to go haywire and shut everything down but once it dried it was all good and we were able to reset it.🙂

In most areas, tinting the windshield is against the law;, unless you have a medical exemption.

But if you do tint the windshield, this is a known risk (search internet for "tinting windshield electrical problems" - it's not that common on most cars, but a very big problem for Tesla which is full of electronics). There is a fair amount of liquid used for tinting, some some of it will drip down. Not as much of a problem with side-windows, but there are lots of sensitive electronic components beneath the dash and getting them wet can cause problems. The best installers are very careful and will use lots of towels and things to absorb as much of the drip as possible, but this is a risk with getting windshield tinted.

Sounds like a pretty good tow truck driver, what was he AOL or AAA or something?

Last month, Mazda issued TSB SA-051/20 for damage due to corrosion caused by water used during the installation of tint. Symptoms include a no start/crank condition and stored DTCs. The repair is not covered under warranty.

Should make people think twice about tinting the windshield. Some people think they need it for UV protection, but the windshield is laminated glass which blocks both UVA and UVB rays. In addition, for Gen 2 (2017-), the front side windows are also laminated glass (added to reduce cabin noise). The rear sides/back and sunroof are tempered glass which does not block UVB rays.

I got my UVA and UVB mixed up! UVA is the one that is in question. And the windshield and front-side windows on the Gen 2 CX-5 will offer very high protection since both are laminated glass. The rear-side windows, while having factory tint, are still tempered glass and likely do not block as high a % of UVA rays.

Kimmersue, can you tell us exactly HOW you do this? How is it different from starting the car normally?
