CX-5 engine rattle

Hi all,

I just signed up to post this question - maybe it could be helpful to some others too. I did a search and didn’t find this issue yet.

Our CX-5 (2018, grand touring FWD- ~45000miles) makes this noise almost every time driving it. It usually goes away after half an hour or so. We mentioned it to Mazda but didn’t have the video at the time, they said what we described sounds normal . Does anybody know what it could be? Or is it infact normal?

Yes my 2018 GT does the same thing, I also have video. 34K on vehicle and no not normal!

Folks sorry to reinitiate this post but I have an '18 cx5 2.5L that just started the ticking noise at 50,000 km (30,000 miles) when temps went down below freezing. Did anyone including the OP ever get a confirmed answer to what caused it? ^Same! Just bought this car for my wife with 36k...

It's everywhere, I'm sure Mazda techs are told not to talk about it.

The ticking sound is a tad louder than my 2015 CX-5 Touring. I would get a get of the valve cleaner from Liqui Moly or system cleaner and dump that in your gas tank.

Report back once you've done so.
