2007 CX-9 - cannot start keyless and door buttons don't work

We have a 2007 CX-9 GT with Advanced Keyless Entry. Seems to be some odd issues regarding the keyless system.

1. We can only unlock the car either with the physical RFID key or via the remote credit card fob. We can't lock/unlock by pressing the little black button on the door handle. Driver, passenger, and rear lift gate do no not work.
2. We can't start the vehicle without inserting the physical RFID key.

I thought this might be an electrical or relay issue, but I can't seem to identify what relay would be resonsible for that. Could it be an issue with the fob itself?

Thanks!

Does the keyfob have a good battery? The red light on it flashes when close to the vehicle? Guessing yes, no.

No related lights lit up on the dash?

Sounds like you may have a bad antenna(s). Plug in a scan tool and see if any related codes are stored.

Thanks - the battery is new, just replaced last week. I think it's the key fob. If I strategically press in the middle of the credit card fob, the red light flashes and then I can turn the ignition without inserting the physical key. So...loose connection somewhere, perhaps.
