2021 CX-9 Changes

Interesting to see how much the PG can change depending on the lighting conditions.

Major changes are
Automatic Reverse braking
Wireless charger
Larger infotainment screen
Paddle shifters
Better resolution backup camera

wasn't the Automatic Reverse braking (called SCBS & SBS) available on the 2019 version?

SCBS and SBS are not for reverse. SCBS R is for reverse.

No it wasn’t available. Only rear cross traffic alert. Mazda is slow to incorporate new technologies. My 2017 Subaru Impreza have reverse automatic breaking, paddler shifters, decent resolution backup camera.

I just leased a Kuro (Carbon in the US) edition and it arrived at the dealership in Ottawa today! Here are some quick pics. Yes, it looks like it's the 9 inch screen. Boo.
Otherwise, I'm super excited!

And the grill. I didn't know it was supposed to come with paddle shifters, so I didn't look to confirm if they are there.

Nice BJC! When do you get to take delivery?

Make sure the tire PSIs are correctly adjusted, and if you want to keep the piano black in the cabin pristine, put a layer of paint protection film or clear vinyl over all areas (shifter panel, door switch panels) as soon as you can.

Yes I meant SCBS R, my 2019 signature model owner manual states it is a feature that is available, I am not sure what is new in the 2021 model.

Btw, I am based in Dubai, so maybe the US/Canada markets did not get it

jef, could you please take a picture of the monitor with the surround camera on at standstill so we may see how the resolution compares to the previous year's cameras? The resolution of the cameras as well as the lack of paddle shifters were my only (small) let down on the 2019GT we own. Thanks

Skip to the 9:06 mark. It looks like it also now has trajectory lines that adjust with the steering wheel. That was something people had asked for in the past.

Picked my Kuro up yesterday. Loving the colour combo! The resolution on the 9 inch screen and 360 cameras is disappointing but otherwise, I'm loving the car. The paddle shifters are quick and the HUD and active headlights are great. I bedded in the brakes too, to help with braking performance.
