New Owner - 2016.5 GX AWD

:
2016.5 CX-5 GX
Just jumping in here to say hello.

Traded in my 2009 Impreza hatch a couple weeks ago for a 2016.5 GX AWD with just over 50,000km on it. Not much else to say about it other than that I got the dealership to do the Apply CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade on the infotainment system, install some 3M paint protection vinyl on the hood and roof, and install a hitch and wiring setup. Picked up some snow tires this past weekend that I'll be tossing on for the winter.

Not huge into modding, but like to upgrade things as they wear out (sway bars, endlinks, etc). Just wondering if any other owners have advice on things to look out for or to keep an eye on?

Welcome and thanks for joining up, @jpetznick! You've come to the right place, it would be great to see pics if you've got any...As for advice, there's plenty here, be sure to use our search function to get you started...Enjoy the forums! 😁

Put on a set of factory roof rails and crossbars yesterday, and then swapped the winter tires for the all-season setup this morning

I think the 2018 is best! That isn't a rack on the back of his car, it is the bumper of his wife's car that he backed into.

I disagree. I had a 2016.5 and the 21 Signature is loads better!

The 16.5 is still a great car!
Nothing can beat the original “Kodo” (Soul of Motion / 魂動) design on gen-1 CX-5; and 2016.5 is the last MY on gen-1 CX-5 which has eliminated most bugs for the vehicle. Gen-2 CX-5 has lost “Kodo” design concept and looks like a plain CUV like all others.

2018 CX-5 is the best on adding most missing features which are found on other markets, such as on / off dial control on center dash vents、and one-touch open / close function on all 4 power windows, only if Mazda didn’t add the cylinder deactivation to its 2.5L, a feature even the sales person didn’t want to bring it up!

And I planed to get a 2018 CX-5 GT when I saw these new missing features, but gave up the idea when I learned the cylinder deactivation had been added by Mazda almost secretly without much advertisement to the feature.

Fortunately, I can give a crap less on what they call their design. Naming a design is nothing but a sales tactic to me. The 21 signature looks better, drives better, and feels better than my 16.5 GT.
