The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

fastest looking slow car. But they are going to get a bad reputation. Every douche at school that has one revs it every chance they get and talks it up and I would like to chime in but I'm not a choch so I don't I just laugh and move on.

its not nessecary to have the power I have right now but it sure makes it fun. I was just saying you can have that car with 0-60 times and lap times of cars 4 times the cost

The BRZ already has a sterling reputation. Does a Miata have a bad rep? Or the RX-8? S2000? ...?

Maybe, that's a silly question... Does the Miata have a bad rep when you talk to people that only care about what's under the hood...?

At the end of the day, it all comes down people doing whatever they want with their car and their money. I mistakenly let it get to me when people say that the BRZ is under-powered, or needs a turbo/SC etc, etc.

^ I agree, I love the MSM but I had more fun at the autox with an NA miata. The driving experience was completely different (in a good way). The BRZ I drove felt really good, all I would change is the exhaust for a good note and the suspension.

for sure I get it, not many cars neeeeed it but its fun to mess around with it. For the money you can't beat the power and handling you get with that car. I just wish it was a little more pretty lol

one of the first things I would do to that car is get suspension and some wider wheels/tires the ones that come on it look stupid and I doubt they could keep up with the car's handing potential

A buddy at work traded in his Veloster (speaking of underwelming) for an FRS. He told me he would let me drive it sometime.

You can have all the power in the world, but if you can't get it to the ground and put it to use, in a word: USELESS. I am sure Will and some of the other here that have tracked their cars. These guys with the high powered cars get caught by Miata's, Protege's and RX7's.Funny @ Beaver run a guy with a built GT-R, was caught by MSP....

It's interesting reading the opinions of those who race/track their cars versus those who don't when it comes to horsepower. Not ridiculing one side or the other but the general impression I'm getting is the guys who race/track generally prefer handling and the ability to put down the power they have and the street guys seem to want more HP. I was definitely in the latter category about four years ago. I've got a friend from school with a twin-turbocharged 4.6L Mustang who likes to go around saying things like "My daily driver is faster than your racecar." Sure, 0-60 mi/hr, but what about around a corner? What about against cars with similar HP/weight ratios? I mean, comparing a twin-turbo V8 street machine to a Spec Miata is pretty assinine.

wow, this took an unexpected turn haha...

i like what the frs/brz is, a lightweight, rwd coupe that is in alot of ways like the miata, just a fun drivers car...

^and yet that spec miata with the right driver could run circles around a twin turbo v8 street machine on track... hahaha
this convo is alot like the slammed/hellaflush/stanced vs functional arguement... everyone is gonna have their own opinion and preference towards it. as car guys we should respect each and everyone decisions for their own cars

i personally love flogging the hell out of my 3 on a back country winding road, its quick enough to get myself in trouble, and handles pretty damn well, its never gonna be fast but it does what i built it to do and thats make me smile and giggle when im ripping up and down mountain roads, but at the same time, it can be just as fun ripping around in a high(er) hp vehicle... i guess do what makes you happy and dont bash others cause something different makes them happy

I agree.

I have absolutely zero problem with people doing whatever they want with their car. I have a problem when people say X, Y, or Z car isn't a good car because it doesn't have a certain amount of HP or isn't low enough or whatever dumb reason.

I don't mind the slammed/hellaflush/stanced vs functional argument as long as those people don't tell me that my car sucks because it's not what they would do. I respect them enough to do the same, and there are some cars that fit into the former category that I wouldn't even mind driving. :D

I think a lot has to do with pride/ego too. A guy in a supercar probably isnt going to take it lightly getting passed by a miata, but there has to be respect for what both cars can do on and off the track.

This guy used to be very active on this forum back in 07-08 (and before).

Never rule anything out because of it's size or previous life goal.

I stand corrected, and amazed at the track configuration. I think it would take me longer to figure that out than getting the woody wagon to handle

I wish I could remember the guy's user name on here. What I remember was that it had a Mercury Mountaineer 5.0, 400lb springs in the front, Interceptor pieces all around, a shift kit, and that exhaust. His daily was a P5.
