haha, those are awesome, lol. i always love catching animals doing things.

If I want to slow down water in bright days. If I want to slow down cars in bright days. That's all for the most part. OR I put the filter on if I'm shooting portraits out in the open on a bright sunny day.

i've started using filters a bit myself. i prefer not to use them as much as i can. but they indeed do come in handy when the time calls. one thing i hate that i have seen happen sometimes. is that no matter how clean the lens and filter are. occasionally you get like a hint of reflection or glare from the filter. ive had it happen a couple times with and without hoods. but not often.

this is a great shot. good job. i took one like this just after hurricane Irene had passed over. i'll see if i can find it.

here is one i took at a car meet of my car. the meet location just so happened to have a carnvial in the background, so i couldnt resist taking an opportunistic shot...

Yeah my experience on Memorial Day was pretty hellacious. I doubt I'll be going back. There were too many visual obstructions from the animals, way too many people, the light and settings sucked, and I spent more time trying not to step on people's children than anything else.

I hear you man. My foot got run over by a couple of strollers and I was wearing sandals LOL

I may try and go back during closing time when the light's better and it will hopefully be less crowded, but the shots I got the other week don't really justify that.

Try early mornings. That's when the animals are most active or just before closing. The zoo usually opens pretty early in the morning.

Headed to Istanbul and Greece on Friday; very excited. I'm going to be in Athens on election day, should be interesting...

Vacation with the 'rents, I wish it were for work! I'll be taking a month long photo class in Australia in July as well.
