Any photographers in here?

What's wrong with those for the blog? Any example of others that have made the blog?

It's more of a general auto news blog. They'd probably be fine with me posting these but they don't really fit the style. I haven't edited the ones I'll be posting yet, but they're more like the kind you see in Car & Driver or whatever, no tilt and less interesting lighting. I might post some of these anyway, though.

I just processed this interior shot that'll be going up, though. I'm rather pleased with it for something I shot from the back seat and handheld, although I wish the view out the window was better.

Edit - here are the more conventional front and rear shots that I did for the article.

I probably could have gone down to F14 (which I think I did in some later photos), but that was still giving me a shutter speed around 1/160. 1/200 is right at the upper cusp for proper prop blur. These guys are only running the engines at around 2200-2400 RPM at the most, so the propellors are spinning much slower than you think. Helicopters are the worst since the main rotors are spinning so dang slow...

This first shot from the next batch was at f/8.0, 1/500 - and you can see how the prop is nearly stopped. Fortunately, it was the whole composition I was after, not just the aircraft:

What lens are you using for the air show stuff Flyin'?

EF 55-250mm IS with my Canon Digital Rebel XTi

Every time I say I need to upgrade I get a few gems from this camera and it makes me re-think it all over again...

if we meet up for an air show, I'll let you shoot with the 1dIII and 100-400. that will totally mess you up ;)

YOu ever use a neutral density filter for bright days? It'll knock the light down a few stops so you don't have to shoot that small of an aperture and should keep your shutter speeds slow enough to catch the props too. Because once you start getting up in the F14 to F22 range, lenses tend to lose their sharpness.

I need to add an ND filter or two to my bag. I'm sure it would help for motorsports stuff on sunny days.

Those Mazda 2 shots are good. My brother's in the market for a car right now and so far he likes the 2 over the Fit LX. We're gonna test drive the Fiesta next week and then a mazda 3 and the subaru impreza hatch.

I have a CPL filter that I use once in a while, but it drops the stops down too far and I'm not always happy with the look. I also have a Graduated ND filter which is great for static shots... The ND filter would definitely help, but the lighting that day really sucked balls. I try and keep the lens down at f/8.0 as much as I can, but sometimes the show doesn't stop so you can change lenses or put a filter on... LOL

My GF has a Fit Sport and I like my Mazda2 better so far. The only thing the Fit really has going for it is way more cargo space in the back, the Mazda doesn't have much at all.

Ya we disliked the electronic throttle in the Fit. It wasn't responsive enough.

So last night I brought some supplies for some new sort of photography, all for under $15 :D

On one of the shots I thought I would be smart and swing the prop around my head resulted in me getting burnt on the neck :o

Still, I had fun! :D

WWII planes are my favorite! Great shots. The last one is awesome with all the people crowded around.

And FWIW, the F4U Corsair is my favorite WWII fighter. Probably mostly due to the show Black Sheep Squadron :)
