Possible Turbo issue....?

id say wastegate can forsure cause it to bog down or to spike. Dont buy the wastegate from mazda though atpturbo.com sells one for cheap like 100$. I would also say get a ssafc but i am running one and it still dosent seem to help all that much. Best solution is to get a good ems and put the car on the dyno for a bit.

So since Mazda failed to diagnose and my regular mechanic is not too familiar with turbo's, I took it to a new shop my friend who sold me the car recommended. I explained my issue, told him what I thought were the possible issues. He confirmed yesterday, that I need a new wastegate. He said the turbo is fine, all the vac lines are good and connected. He's calling Mazda to get a price on a wastegate as he recommends keeping it OEM since I don't have any heavy mod's and don't plan to do any.

If I purchase from ATP can you provide a link cause I'm a tard and having trouble finding the one I need. This was as far as I got and I'm either blind or don't see one for our GT25 turbo:
http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=tp&Category_Code=VMSP

Otherwise I found this OEM one:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/263184830/Garrett_OEM_MAZDASPEED_Protege_Updated_Adjustable.html

If anyone can recommend a website to purchase a wastegate from please do... The OEM one is pricey.. and I have a feeling Mazda will charge me $$$ for the OEM from them. Any help is appreciated as I'm trying to fix this car and sell asap.

not if youre only going for 1 run, lol all youd have to do is toss the biggest ******* turbo on there possible and drop the biggest injectors possible, and disable fuelcut and there ya go, although zoom zoom boom would probably take place before you finnished the quarter mile... hahahah

Even still, with 30lbs of boost and a built tranny (yeah right, not with a G15MR) I probably couldn't run a 13.2.

The ATP is a direct replacement and cost about $60 however I have heard some members say they only last about 30k miles and it automatically raises your boost to about 9psi. I have a Forge which is adjustable and has a spring you can switch out to run more boost, it was about $115. I don't recommend the OEM WGA, they are not worth $300.

ya oem is too expensive. Atp is not too bad i have been running it for about 2years and it still seems to work ok. It does put the boost up to about 8or 9psi. Its nice lol. Ill try to find the link. Just dont buy it from mazda they charge way to much

i think this is it but you would be better off calling atp to make sure.

Thanks for your help and insight. I REALLY appreciate it. Gonna order the ATP one for sure. Don't mind if it lasts only 30K miles since I'm selling the car soon. I just bought a new ride and do not need two cars.... gonna be hard to let this one go tho.

One last question... Should I also order a new bracket as well?

So after a new wastegate my car runs like a champ again!

My mechanic also came across a few other issues that I addressed; First being that my front motor mount was pretty much done for and broken, so I had that replaced to avoid adding additional stress on the other mounts. I also had a couple belts that were about to tear replaced, and had a small oil leak so had a gasket replaced. Spent a couple more hundred than I wanted to but I can feel comfortable selling the car now.

I really appreciate everyones help & insight. And side-note, I did not need a new bracket so I'll be shipping that back!

So i seem to be having a fairly similar issue to what has been mentioned above. By the sounds of it, from what i've read, it's pointing to the wastegate but any input would be good since i'm far from an expert on turbo cars. First off i've got an ion FMIC, injen CAI, hks BOV, ion turbo back exhaust and a blitz boost controller. My vac readings at idle are -21 to -19 which I think is alright and i've got the boost pressure set at 9 psi. So about half the time the car will grab and go fairly well, and other times i'll get a reading of about 9 psi and the car won't accelerate at all and start to hesitate and sputter. Thats at about half throttle. Full throttle it does the latter of the two, just completely sputters and doesn't accelerate any faster. I also spike and overboost more then i'd like. There is a forge wastegate in the car right now, but it really seems like it's not working properly if it is in fact the wastegate thats causing all my problems.

I also have a forge and my car hesitates like crazy above 1/2 throttle but I don't think it's the WGA. My WB reads 9-10s every time I press the throttle more than halfway, meaning the car is running way too rich. My Forge spikes more than I would like as well, but I doubt it's the reason for the bogging/hesitation.
