Nice deep throaty tone only thing I had done to the p5 was this axleback.I have heard that if you add a header they do tend to get louder.

Sounds awesome. I have it on my car and could take a video, but it is a bad representation because I have no cats and turbo ;)

But I loved it when I had just the axleback too.

in case you didn't know, the mazdaspeed axelback exhaust was made by borla, so it's of a very high quality. a lot of people have complained about the incessant drone on long freeway drives and have thus favored racing beat's version. it truly shines, however, in and around town and on twisty mountain roads as you listen to the sweet rasp of the exhaust as your throw your car in and around the corners while constantly moving up and down the gears....simply glorious!!! (drive2)

hope this helps...

I was never overly bothered by the drone, even with a header. The Racing Beat was just plain too quiet. Barely any sound at all.

Forgive my noobness, i'm still learning the ins and outs of proteges.

So this will just bolt on to the factory exhaust, no cutting or modification necessary? Just unbolt and drop the OE axleback and bolt this one in place?

Yes it will bolt on at the flange near the rear "axle". You may want to change the gasket.

Sent PM about possible trade for an HKS exhaust.
Anyone have clips of this exhaust paired with headers, or can possibly compare the HKS to the Mazdaspeed exhaust (both with headers)?

so this is for a p5? is it gonna be too short/long on an msp? or would it fit like the oem axleback on the msp?

it will be about 5" too short (sunken into the bumper) on the sedan/msp
