What have you done to your P5 today?

Can someone shed some light on the AWR oil pan? I would like to get one after reading up on the FS-DE oil starvation issues, and this seems like a good solution for a daily driver. I would like to get that and a Prosport oil pressure gauge so I can keep an eye on how healthy the oiling system is.

From what I've seen it sits pretty low, will I have to worry about clearance issues on a lowered car? I know it barely clears the factory header but that won't be an issue for me since I don't plan on upgrading.

You shouldn't need an upgraded oil pan unless you are going F/I or doing a pretty big N/A build.

Its not really a matter of your build type thats going to determine if you need that oil pan its more of what you plan on doing with the car. Even a lower classed auto-x car would benefit from that pan. Basically if you plan on put high g's on the car (ie drag racing, auto-x, track car) then its a good idea. if its your DD or just an occasional auto-x car i would use the money else where.

As far as clearance goes you MUST have all your motor mounts done, it sits very close to the subframe and if your engine moves more than about 3/4" its going to hit. Ground clearance is fine. Rogue killed his AWR oil pan on a stupid big pothole but it was big enough it took out some tires his downpipe ect. Also if you have a front lower tie bar modification is needed to make the pan fit, Culridr had this issue but custom fabbed a setup to make it work.

I read the thread from Doc B Racing called "FS-DE oiling system" and they suggest the oiling system, even for N/A street cars, is lacking if you want to do any spirited driving. I don't think it would hurt to do this preventative measure to extend the life of the motor.

Ive read to many bad things...if you have the money to spend on the oil pan i support you...tis a good idea imo

I have the blue/white, and from what I remember, the white is constant(cig lighter) and the blue is hooked up to something that changes when the lights get turned on(one of the fuses in the fuse box) so they're white in the day, blue at night.

Thanks Dub ill try it out tonight.

By white, I meant the white light. The actual wire going to the cig lighter is the red one, the one that controls the blue that goes to the fuse box is the white wire.

Once I get off work, I'll tell you what fuse it's hooked up to.

Cool thanks

I have the orange and white hooked up to the dimmer right now.

I don't have the money per-say, but it's something I'm willing to save up for.

Also, anyone know who makes sandwich plates for our motor? I wanna get an oil pressure gauge soon.

blox sells a good universal plate for about $35 shipped from their site. i had one on my rx7 and would not hesitate to buy another

just run a brass t fitting from the oil pressure sender spot on the back of the block..alot cheaper then buying a sandwich plate..

Can you link me to which one you used? Wanna make sure I buy the right thread pitch and what not.

Also, any idea what is a good single gauge pod? I like the one that takes up radio din pocket but I think they are only available in triple.

EDIT: Is this the Blox one? http://thmotorsports.com/blox_racing/blox_gauge_accessories/bxga00105bk/i-245841.aspx

I'm confused because it says "universal", I thought you had to match the threading.
