MS3

"Performance fans will be pleased to hear that an MPS model will feature the five-cylinder turbo from the Focus ST. In the Mazda, which is due in 2010, this will offer around 250bhp. And the discreet look of the current 3 MPS is set to be axed in favour of a more menacing design. "

More info in the link. This seams really surprising to me, I guess there will be a 2010 MS3. What do you guys make of this news?

That things looks hawt...hope its close to what the production car will look like. So i guess their just going to keep the speed3 going even into the new production? Does this mean we don't have to wait 3-4 years for a new speed3?

It looks nice but after experiencing the same thing with my Focus, we'll probably never see something like that over here /cry

My fingers are crossed, though! :D

sounds like they're going all out on the 5 cylinder powerplant... first volvo, then ford, soon mazda? interesting.

One thing to note is that image on the website is not a real photograph. In fact, I think it's BS. It's just a painted over version of this image of the mazda 6 (this one).

I was curious so I quickly aligned them up in photoshop, so you can see the differences. Since the wheel base and frame is exactly the same I don't believe for a second the new mazda3 will look similar.

I like it

I was thinking of getting the new 2009 mazda 3 with the 2.5L engine (which I heard had DISI) in January. This makes my decision a little harder.

My state inspection is up in April 2009 (my car is old and I feel like every time I go for state inspection it needs 2 grand of repair work).

When do you think the 2010 models will be released? Am I right on the 2.5L having DISI?

Nice work. I also don't believe any of it since it's not a release directly from Mazda. I love it how magazines and blogs post crap about future models and get somebody to Photoshop or draw them a picture and everybody on the intraweb thinks it's friggin gospel. Until there's an official release from Mazda, it's all rumors and speculation and nothing to get excited/disapointed over.

Im not 100% sold that its real, but if someone made this they sure did a good job of making it look like the camoed version. Look at the front end, you can see the 3 air vents on either side beneath the headlights through the camo, and also the main grill looks very simalar, you can even see the big chrome part in the middle.

Close enough for me....

Also, a little information about that T5 (i have actually test driven one of these in a s60, its scary fast):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T5_engine

it can produce up to 300hp but they limit it depending on the car its in to get a mid range performance. Why they do this...who knows? It had 247 hp in the s60, but there was an R-type s60 with 300HP and the same engine.

Same for the V70R, 300hp 6speed awd wagon. I was looking at it before I got the MS3, but couldn't get over possible reliability issues.

i thought 5 cylinder engines are crappy for reliability and many other things. thats y many companies dont use them.

edit: i read 5 cylinder cars are also a bit rough..i think thats y when i was riding in my friends VW, it was like y is it like this lol..

I really hope they don't give Europe a sporty, beautiful car, and then give us a boring, dumbed-down version as they did with the new 6.

I think that car looks like crap and I hope it and the 5 cylinder stay in Europe. Why would they even want to use a 5 cylinder if they are trying to make the car lighter with better gas mileage.
