2008 Mazdaspeed3 GT Black Mica (no nav)
Hey guys,

I bought an '08 MS3 GT in Jan 08 and I was cleaning out the interior of the car, and I found a set of Mazda keys under the passenger seat! (screwy)

They do not belong to my car - they are the switchblade kind. I can only guess that they were left in there from the dealer (Irvine Mazda), so I'll be calling them to return it.

Still, thought it was funny / wonder if someone had to put in a request for a spare key for the car!

Did it have a tag on it?
I would just go to the dealership during after hours and pick up the car... (lol2)
Maybe strip it down and sell it for parts...if its a MS3 though...

(just kidding)

Just dont go trying the key on every mazda at the dealership... even though it would be pretty funny to see!

SwitchBlade kind has a Panic button. Go to the dealer after hours and walk around pushing it. You will find the car in no time :)

That's what I was thinking. No need to try the key in the doors, just walk around clicking lock, and wait for the lights to flash or hit panic.

maybe it was buy one get one free when you got your car?

That happeend at a PORSCHE dealership here. I dumb employee advertised it. 3 people walked out with 2 porsches for the price of one. lol needless top say he was fired! lol

I thought the GT MS3s can with the switch blade keys...? (huh)
Everytime I test drove a 2008 GT, it had the switch blade key... The Sport models had a regular key...

If they've already replaced the key then the only thing it will do is open the doors. Once the keys and remotes are reprogrammed for the car it disables any previously programmed keys/remotes. If they haven't though........

AutoXracer, go back to the dealer you test drove at and see if they still have flip keys for '08 Mz3's. If they do then it means a new key/remote is available that may be compatible for US '07+ model owners. Also any chance you could find out the visteon numbers from the remotes (the previous flip keys worked fine, just the remote portion didn't).

I don't know when I'll be going back to the dealers...but I thought all the GTs were flip key since the GTs have a security system...

Hey guys,

I haven't called them up yet - my first servicing since getting the car is scheduled for next Monday (4/8), so I'll be going in anyway, and I can drop off the keys then.

As far as my key for the GT MS3, it's a normal key, but it also has a dongle (with lock/unlock/panic). It's just not a switchblade. I got 2 sets of those (one spare) from Mazda when i bought the car. Is that what other owners have? What kind is your key?

Riz

LOL maybe I should go up and just see if I can unlock a car with that key first... would be hilarious to see their faces (lol2)

My GT isn't a flip key, its a normal key just like my Mazdaspeed Miata was.

I would go to the dealer, find out which car it is, and move it around every night. Seriously, every night, just go there and park that car in front of the service entrance. Then laugh as the service advisors panic every morning.

(iagree)

That would be hilarious but then, aren't the dealership equipped with security cameras in the lot?
